Time Limits Conveyed

Group: process-and-task-completion • Guideline: adequate-time

Summary in Plain English

Where a time limit exists, the user is told at the start of the process or session that there is one, how long it is, and that it can be adjusted - unless hiding its existence is essential.

Why It Matters

A limit nobody mentions is discovered by losing work. Knowing about it in advance is what lets someone adjust it or plan around it.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/process-and-task-completion/adequate-time/time-limits-conveyed.md.

Applies when

  • pages/views within the conformance scope have a time limit.

Except when

  • hiding the existence of the time limit is essential.
