โš ๏ธ W3C Working Draft Notice

WCAG 3.0 is an active W3C Working Draft in development by the AGWG. Requirements, assertions, the conformance model and reporting tiers are still being developed and may change. The latest published draft is the 10 September 2026 Working Draft; this site follows the editorsโ€™ draft, which also includes exploratory provisions.

developing Supplemental requirement

Required Action Available

Group: process-and-task-completion • Guideline: complete-tasks

Summary in Plain English

Where the user must do something to move to the next step, the interface says so.

Why It Matters

A process that stalls without saying why reads as a broken page. The user most likely to give up is the one who cannot see the unfilled field.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/process-and-task-completion/complete-tasks/required-action-available.md.

Applies when

  • the user needs to complete an action in order to proceed to the next step.

Examples from the Draft

Worked examples the W3C editors wrote into the provision itself, not examples invented here.

This would apply when the user needs to agree to the terms and conditions before they can submit the form.
