developing Supplemental requirement

Progress Saved

Group: process-and-task-completion • Guideline: retain-information

Summary in Plain English

Data entry and task completion can be saved and resumed from the current step - unless the task is part of a real-time event where no alternative to the time limit is possible.

Why It Matters

Being able to stop and come back is what makes a long task possible for people with fatigue, pain, attention-related disabilities, or an unreliable connection.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/process-and-task-completion/retain-information/progress-saved.md.

Except when

  • The task completion is part of a real-time event, and no alternative to the time limit is possible.

Examples from the Draft

Worked examples the W3C editors wrote into the provision itself, not examples invented here.

Real-time events would include but are not limited to auctions or ticket sales.
