developing Supplemental requirement

Input Method Flexible

Group: input-operation • Guideline: input-operation

Summary in Plain English

The user can switch between input methods at any time, rather than being locked into the one they started with.

Why It Matters

Many people move between keyboard, pointer, voice and touch during one session, often because of fatigue or pain. Being locked in forces them to stop.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/input-operation/input-operation/input-method-flexible.md.

Notes in the draft

This does not mean that all input technologies (pointer, keyboard, voice, gesture) need to be supported, but if an input modality is supported, it is supported everywhere in the content except where a particular input method is essential to the functionality.
