WCAG 3.0 is an active W3C Working Draft in development by the AGWG. Requirements, assertions, the conformance model and reporting tiers are still being developed and may change. The latest published draft is the 10 September 2026 Working Draft; this site follows the editorsโ draft, which also includes exploratory provisions.
Where a user has to complete a multi-step process, the information and resources needed are given up front: how many steps it may take if that is known, what will be needed to do it, and an overview of the process and the next step.
Why It Matters
Discovering halfway through that a document is needed means abandoning the task. Knowing in advance is what lets people with limited time, energy or attention start at the right moment.
If it can be determined in advance, check that the number of steps it will take to complete the process is provided at the start of the process.
Check that the details of any information and resources that are needed to perform the task are provided at the start of the process.
Check that an overview of the process and next steps are provided at the start of the process.
Expected results
#2, #3, and #4 are true.
