developing Core requirement

Errors Preventable

Group: error-handling • Guideline: prevent-errors

Summary in Plain English

Before submitting, users can either review, confirm and correct everything they entered, or review and correct the errors validation found. Content that auto-saves or where submission is reversible is exempt.

Why It Matters

A mistake that can only be discovered after submission is expensive to undo. A review step is what makes an irreversible action safe for people who are more likely to mistype or misread.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/error-handling/prevent-errors/errors-preventable.md.

Except when

  • entered data is auto-saved and/or reversible.
