โš ๏ธ W3C Working Draft Notice

WCAG 3.0 is an active W3C Working Draft in development by the AGWG. Requirements, assertions, the conformance model and reporting tiers are still being developed and may change. The latest published draft is the 10 September 2026 Working Draft; this site follows the editorsโ€™ draft, which also includes exploratory provisions.

Errors Indicated In Multiple Ways

Group: error-handling • Guideline: correct-errors

Summary in Plain English

An error has to be marked in at least two of three ways: a symbol used consistently throughout, a distinguishing colour, and a textual indication.

Why It Matters

Colour alone is invisible to people with colour vision deficiencies and disappears in high-contrast modes. A second, redundant signal means the error still registers.

Examples from the Draft

Worked examples the W3C editors wrote into the provision itself, not examples invented here.

An example of a โ€œtextual indicationโ€ would be to add โ€œError: โ€ before the error description.
