developing Assertion

Diverse Disabilities Considered

Group: policy-and-protection • Guideline: risk

Summary in Plain English

An organisational assertion: the organisation states that it considered the safety and security of users with diverse disabilities - noting, for example, that people with cognitive or learning disabilities are sometimes targeted for exploitation - researched the risks, and took reasonable practical steps to mitigate what it found.

Why It Matters

Safety design usually assumes an average user. Disabled users are disproportionately targeted, and a threat model that leaves them out leaves them unprotected.
