WCAG 3.0 is an active W3C Working Draft in development by the AGWG. Requirements, assertions, the conformance model and reporting tiers are still being developed and may change. The latest published draft is the 10 September 2026 Working Draft; this site follows the editorsโ draft, which also includes exploratory provisions.
The user can keep the pointer looking the way their system draws it, rather than having the page override it - unless changing the pointer is essential.
Why It Matters
People who have enlarged or recoloured their cursor did so because they lose it otherwise. A custom cursor undoes that setting without asking.
No scripting or styling overrides the pointer indicator appearance.
Provide a setting that removes any overrides to the pointer indicator appearance.

an interpretation, not a W3C mapping: W3C has not published one yet.
No mapping recorded. No WCAG 2.2 criterion in
this site's map is recorded as a predecessor of this provision.
The user can ensure that the appearance of the pointer is not overridden by the authored interface.
