Captions Controllable

Group: images-and-media • Guideline: captions

Summary in Plain English

There is a way to turn captions on and off, unless they are burned into the video.

Why It Matters

Captions cover part of the picture and are a distraction to viewers who do not need them, so the choice has to sit with the viewer.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/images-and-media/captions/captions-controllable.md.

Except when

  • Captions are hard-coded into the video content.
