developing Core requirement

All Steps Listed

Group: layout • Guideline: user-orientation

Summary in Plain English

In a multi-step process, the full list of steps is available visually and programmatically at every step - unless the number of steps is unknown or the sequence depends on what the user does.

Why It Matters

Knowing how much is left is what lets someone decide whether they can finish now, which matters for people with fatigue, pain or limited time on a shared device.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/layout/user-orientation/all-steps-listed.md.

Except when

  • The total number of steps is unknown, or the sequence of steps depends on user actions.
