developing Assertion

Accessible Audio Player Selected

Group: images-and-media • Guideline: accessible-media-player

Summary in Plain English

An organisational assertion, relevant when audio needs a player that standard browsers do not provide: the organisation states that its audio player supports the media alternatives it lists, such as turning audio descriptions on and off and changing their language.

Why It Matters

A custom player can undo the accessibility of the media inside it. Naming the features it actually supports makes that checkable rather than assumed.

Scope: When This Applies

The draft's own conditions, quoted from guidelines/groups/images-and-media/accessible-media-player/accessible-audio-player-selected.md.

Applies when

  • an audio format is used that does not play in standard browsers.
